A small UK studio, not a platform

Your website, sorted properly.

Hand built websites and ongoing care for UK businesses. No templates. No platform lock in. Just me, you, and a six week journey to a site you're proud of.

Replies usually within a few hours, often the same evening.

Why I started this

Most small businesses get a raw deal on websites.

You ring an agency. They charge you a few thousand up front, disappear for three months, and hand back something built on a platform you don't understand, that you can't edit, that quietly stops working a year later when the developer who built it has moved on.

Or you go the other way. Wix, Squarespace, a cousin's mate who "does websites". You spend weekends fiddling with templates. It looks fine on your laptop, breaks on a phone, and you're never quite sure if it's actually getting you any customers.

Either way, the website becomes a thing on your to do list that never quite gets sorted. That's what I'm here to take off your plate.

I work with one client at a time, end to end. I write the words, design the pages, build the code, point the domain, and stay on the line afterwards. You get one human, plus a private portal where your project, payments, live preview and every request all live in one place. The portal works for you, not in place of me.

The journey

How we work together.

A clear, friendly process from the first conversation to a site you're proud to send people to. How long each step takes depends on the size of your project. We agree the dates on our first call.

Step 1 . Discovery

I learn your business properly.

We have a proper conversation. A phone call, a video chat, or a coffee if you're nearby. I ask about who your customers are, what they actually want, what makes you different, and what success looks like. You walk away with clarity, even if you don't end up working with me.

Step 2 . Design

You see something tangible.

I sketch the structure of the site, write a first draft of the words, and put together a visual direction. You react, I listen, we adjust. No big reveal at the end of a long silence. Just steady progress you can see in your portal.

Step 3 . Build

I disappear into the work.

This is the bit you don't need to think about. I'm writing code, refining the copy, sourcing photography, testing on every screen size. You can check in any time through the portal. Otherwise, you get on with running your business.

Step 4 . Review

We polish it together.

I send you a private preview link inside your portal. You read every word, click every button, and tell me what feels off. We do one round of changes, then a second if needed. Nothing goes live until you're genuinely happy.

Step 5 . Launch

The site goes live, quietly and cleanly.

I handle the domain, the SSL, the Google Business Profile, the analytics, the redirects from your old site. You don't lift a finger. When everything's ready, we go live, and you're sending the link to customers the same day.

Aftercare

I stick around.

Every site I build comes with ongoing care. Need a new service page? Phone number changed? Want a blog post for SEO? Send me a request through your portal. Most updates land the same day. You'll never have to learn a CMS or ring a support line.

What you actually get

Not a feature list. A set of outcomes.

i.

A site that loads fast on phones, where most of your customers will see it.

ii.

Words that sound like you, written for the people you actually want to hear from.

iii.

A real human you can message when something changes.

iv.

Updates whenever you ask, usually within the same day.

v.

Your own domain, your own content, your own everything. Yours to keep.

vi.

A first impression that quietly tells people you take your business seriously.

Who I work with

Trades, planning consultancies, professional services, local shops, anyone in the UK running a small business that deserves a proper website.

Currently working with The Plan Company on their new home online.

Questions

Is this right for me?

How long does it take?

It depends on the size of the project. A small focused single-page site can launch in a couple of weeks. A bigger build with bookings, multiple services and lots of content takes longer. We agree a realistic timeline on the first call so you know exactly what to expect, and I stick to it.

What if I don't have logos or photos yet?

That's normal. Most of my clients come to me with a phone full of half decent snaps and not much else. I'll guide you on what to take with your phone, source stock imagery where it helps, and sort out a clean wordmark if you don't have a logo. None of this slows the project down.

Do I own my website at the end?

Yes, completely. Your domain stays in your name, your content is yours, and if you ever want to take the whole site somewhere else I'll hand over the files. No platform lock in. No "your data lives in our system." It's your business, it should be your website.

What happens after launch?

You stay on a small monthly care fee that covers hosting, your domain renewal, SSL, daily backups, monthly health checks, and small content updates whenever you ask. New service, new photo, new opening hours, all just a quick request through your portal.

Can I leave if I want to?

Yes, once the minimum term is up. The care arrangement runs for a minimum of 12 months from launch, so I can plan around it properly. After that it goes month to month and you can cancel with one month's notice in writing. Your domain, your content, your site files all come with you. I'd rather you stay because the work is good, not because you're trapped.

How do I know if this is for me?

The simplest way is the 15 minute call. No pressure, no slides, no sales pitch. We talk about your business, I tell you honestly whether I think I can help, and if I can't I'll point you at someone who can. Book a slot whenever suits you.

Let's have a chat.

Tell me a bit about your business. I'll reply by email within a few hours, often the same evening. No slides, no sales pitch. If I'm not the right person, I'll say so.
